Purchased a new Precip Jacket. Ready for a trip in a couple of weeks. I have had another Precip jacket that worked wonderfully. I just wore it out after many, many years of great services. It finally wore out with my backpack sholder straps. Have used other rain jacks and this one stood the test of time and the elements. I give marmont 5 stars on all of their gear. The Precip keeps out the rain. Eliminatets sweating with the underarm zippers, and the coating inside the jacket doesn't stick to your skin like other rain jackets. I use this in ALL seasons, Great non-clammy jacket in the summer rain, and makes a great wind stopper and holds in the heat in the winter time as an outer shell. Doesn't seem to mind a little bushwacking either. I have been through heavy brush and briers and this thin jacket came out unscathed. The new jacket is a replacement for one I just simply wore out after many years of hard service. I'm sure this one will give the same great service. This is a great, lightweight (yet still warm) wet weather jacket. I'm tall (6'2" and 215lbs)and was going to order an XL, but after reading other reviews claiming it runs slightly big I took a chance with the Large and it fits perfectly. Sleeves are a great length, hood is comfortable and I have room to wear a heavier shirt/light sweater underneath. I also really like that the armpits unzip for ventilation (this was a god send on my last muggy & rainy trip to Florida). My only complaint - and the reason I didn't give it 5 stars - is that the openings of the side pockets are a little high and awkward to get into. When I bought this, I was coming away from a North Face rain jacket I had purchased many years ago, which put up with every second of abuse I threw at it until a little tumble off my mountain bike caused it to get torn up on some rocks. So I find this jacket, at an unbeatable price, and decide to jump on it. After owning this for a few months, I can tell you that this jacket is outstanding for some very heavy downpours and light drizzles all the same. Very breathable and comfortable. Will definitely be recommending this to my friends.I bought this for my boyfriend to take on our Appalachian Trail thru hike. He is 6'5" and wears a size 34 pant and L to XL shirt. I bought this jacket in a L and it fit perfectly. The zippers under the armpits were great ventilation when we got to New England in October and it was too cold to hike in nothing but too hot for wool layers. This jacket will keep you as dry as any Mountain Hardware and it costs about half the price. That is hard to top. Plus, 2,184 miles later, he still wears this jacket all the time and it doesn't have a single hole in it (wish the same could be said for our other AT clothes). This jacket has been my go-to for any conditions I live in Michigan and see all sorts of interesting conditions, and it suits all of them. If its warm and raining, its perfect. Its got vents under-arm for dumping excess heat too. When its chilly and windy, its also great. In the winter I wore it for a week straight skiing in Montana with a couple inner layers underneath, never was cold. This has been the only 4 season jacket I have ever owned, and If it ever rips or breaks I will be buying another one the next day. LOVE marmot products. Built to last!I have owned several PreCip jackets. The are a great jacket for the price. They keep you dry, are relatively light, and compact down. My problem with this particular purchase was that the size was not as advertised. I ordered a Men's small and received a unisex small which is a bitter smaller than the advertised Men's size. The result is a jacket that is tighter than my previous jackets. As I was leaving on a trip to Alaska I did not have time to return it. The jacket got 5 weeks of use in Alaska and came out great. Nice product but check the size.bought this jacket to wear on mild or rainy mornings on the way to work and to use while hiking/backpacking. I love the way this jacket fits. Bought a Large Tall and is long enough at the waist and the arms, which is hard to find. Jacket is waterproof and I tend to get hot quickly, so love the pit zips and the way it does not ride up with a pack on....This is my second Marmot Precip Rain Jacket. I stll have the first onewhich I bought when my wife and I went to Alaska. I also used it extensively while backpacking and enjoying other outdoor actvities. The main reason for this purchase was because I wanted a garment that blended in more to the environment. I have taken up fly fishing and the red doesen't do a very good job of camouflage.great value, easy to pack away, been up Ben Nevis in terrible conditions but this jacket stood up to very heavy rainWell made, very light, hood could do with a better attachment. A sound piece of kit I'd definitely buy again.
