Like the boots for mud season when mucking stalls etc. I was hoping to be able to ride with them. They fit in my stirrups (which my other mud boots didn't) but the shaft is only 16" and I keep pinching my calves with the end of my saddle. 2" longer would make them the ideal mud/riding boots.I live in the state of Oregon, where it rains 9 months out of the year. This is my first pair of Hunter rain boots. I am 5 ft, 2 inches tall. I am considered a Petite size. I normally wear a shoe size 6 but ordered a size 7 to accommodate for thick winter socks and allow enough room for my foot to not be crammed. Upon receiving item, yes, they are too big for me as a size 6 would be fit true to me. The shaft height of too tall for my short legs and when I bend my legs (walking, bending down, sitting) its uncomfortable to wear as they rub on the back of my knees. Although they are beautiful, comfortable and appear to be durable. I will be returning item due to the height of the shaft.I bought the shorter version of these months ago, and they were advertised as being slim fit on Hunter's website. (same duo gloss boot). Knowing that and reading reviews, I wasn't too shocked that these fit very close to my calves. the bonus is that I can wear them under work pants without looking like a clown. The downside is that should I choose to wear them over my pants, which is my preference, I will have to be strategic about what kinds of socks to wear and the thickness of the pants. Overall, I like them a lot, but very snug fit around the calf area.The refined hunter is a beautiful dress boot which also keeps off rain and puddles up to your knees. I wish the pair I ordered was all gloss, instead of a matt upper finish. I recommend to allLove the gray color its light and goes with everything ... fit us great I have a narrow heel and no slippage had room to put an insole for comfort ... I live in Ca so no need for thick socks but if so other up a size. I’m 5’8” and athletic build and love the fit!I get compliments on these all the time. I am average/athletic build and these fit perfectly around my calves. The gloss finish on the foot gives it just enough fancier look for when I want to dress them up but not too much that I can’t wear them with Yoga pants.Very nice boots not for big calves so i had to return themI love these! They are a tad too tight but if you aren’t someone Devon has huge calves then you should be fine.
